Updated: NRL and AFL Grand Finals? We’ve got you sorted

With both the NRL and AFL playing out this weekend, and Queensland teams featuring in both, radio has you covered no matter which code you follow (can’t help you if you’re a Carlton supporter though – sorry).

ABC Radio, Nine Radio, Triple M and SEN will all call the big matches and other stations are also getting into the spirit of the big footy weekend, even if they don’t have rights to live coverage. Further details of how to listen to the grand finals live on radio below.

Nova 100’s Ben, Liam & Belle chatted with and breathed deeply from Collingwood Grand Final Player Isaac Quaynor.

He has his own signature scent telling the Nova team:

“So the (Collingwood) boys actually think it’s really good because we’ve actually sprayed on the whole backline the last week, so I think we’re gonna go with it again.”

Guy Sebastian, who is due to perform at the AFL Grand final 19 years after his first time in 2004 just after winning Australian Idol. He gave Ben, Liam & Belle a test run of Waltzing Matilda.

The Christian O’Connell Show on GOLD104.3 has been painting the streets of Melbourne black, white, maroon, gold and blue. Literally.

They launched Show Us Your Colours, taking applications from super footy fans from across the city willing to gift the façade of their house to be painted loudly and proudly in their team colours a rather presumptions ‘PREMIERS 23’ tagline. A superfan from either side are both ready to go, with a nice little cash prize too.

A Lions superfan in Melbourne. How dare they?

On KIIS 101.1 Melbourne Thursday morning the 28th, they’re holding their first KIIS Grand Final Breakfast.

Jase & Lauren from 6am, alongside newsreader Clint Stanaway, will hosting a live show getting everyone geared up for the long weekend and Saturday AFL Grand Final.

For the past month listeners have won their way to the show featuring guest appearances from legendary singer Mike Brady (Up There Cazaly), The Premiership Cup & 2023 Premiership Cup Ambassador Josh Kennedy, Former Brisbane Lions’ Mitch Robinson, Former North Melbourne’s Jack Ziebell, and singer Guy Sebastian.

Triple M is rocking both codes.

Before the AFL Grand Final, Triple M will broadcast live on the Saturday from the main stage outside gate three at the MCG from 8am with Triple M 105.1’s Dangerous Dave and Sarah-Maree, then Dead Set Legends with Leigh Montagna, Jay Clark, Kath Loughnan and Anthony “Lehmo” Lehmann from 10am to midday. After that, The Saturday Rub, James Brayshaw, Billy Brownless, Bernie Vince and Damian Barrett will be heard from midday to 2pm, until just before the first bounce.

Then the 2023 Toyota AFL Grand Final call, with commentators Luke Darcy, Mark Howard, Jason Dunstall, Nathan Brown, Michael Roberts and Ash Chua across the Triple M Network and on LiSTNR.

Before the Sunday NRL and NRLW Telstra Premiership Grand Finals, The Rush Hour with Gus, Jude & Wendell will broadcast live from Sydney’s Overseas Passenger Terminal on Thursday, 28 September with listeners, NRL stars and Triple M’s Aaron Woods all part of the show.

NRLW Grand Final coverage begins from 4pm this Sunday with Triple M’s call team, Anthony Maroon, Maddie Studdon and Aaron Woods. Then the NRL Premiership Grand Final call, broadcast across the Triple M Network and LiSTNR with James Graham, Ryan Girdler, Wendell Sailor and Dan Ginanne.

SEN has your tips and predictions for who will win the AFL, and why.
