Smart Speaker ownership grows by 75%, but is the government listening?

The NPR and Edison Research Spring 2019 Smart Audio Report is showing that the number of Smart Speakers in households across the US is now at 118.5 million as of December last year.
Up from 66.7 million in the previous year, that’s an increase of 78% in twelve months with a further 57% of the remaining population (18+) saying they have at least some interest in owning a smart speaker.

Mark Little and NPR’s Tamar Charney shared their thoughts on the future of new at Radodays.

“There is now a community of one for consumers of journalism. Every person expects news to be adapted to their interests,” said Little.

NPR and Edison Research have released their Winter report into smart speaker adoption rates and holiday purchase behaviour in the U.S.

Key findings include: 

43 million Americans own a smart speaker

18% of Americans own a Smart Speaker, around 43 million people, and usage is growing.

According to the Smart Audio report, conducted by NPR and Edison Research, smart speaker reach into households has past the early adopter stage and is growing fast.
