Nova Brisbane axes #1 night show: updated

Nova 106.9 Brisbane has axed its top rating night time show, moving Justine McKell to late nights and recently appointed co-host Simon Kennedy off the night show completely.

Kennedy’s character ‘Bevan the work experience announcer’ was the first and only voice heard on Nova Brisbane before its official launch, and developed quite a following.

He had only just taken over night hosting duties from Channel V stalwart ‘Jabba’ who in turn has been moved to the network’s Sydney night show.

Dean Buchanan, dmg National Program Director in an email to radioinfo this morning says Kennedy “is still a vital member of the Nova team based in Sydney and will continue to have a close relationship with Brisbane, especially through ‘Bevan'”.

Nova Brisbane programming told radioinfo that Brendan ‘Bossy’ Boss will now present an interim Nova 9s with show producer Virginia Lette as part of a very early “Summer Series” and “big plans” are afoot for the show next year.
