Wippa joins the new season of Celebrity Apprentice Australia

Nova’s Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli has entered the Celebrity Apprentice Australia race alongside personal trainer TV personality Michelle Bridges and former Olympian Olivia Vivian.

After a six-year hiatus from the show returns to Australian audiences with Lord Alan Sugar heading Down Under to serve as CEO, after appearing in 15 seasons of the smash-hit UK series.  

Wippa finally gets his world record

After numerous failed attempts over three exhausting days for his support crew, Wippa finally holds a world record.
 
The Nova96.9 breakfast co-host has been trying for six months, to break the record for the longest Hot Wheels track.
 
The first attempt failed at Taronga Zoo with Wippa blaming the Brush Turkeys, so he attempted for the second time at Centennial Park. However even with the help of Olympian Matt Shirvington running alongside the track, he couldn’t succeed.
 

Green shoots begin to show for radio industry jobs

Who would have thought a couple of months ago that Australia’s lockdowns would begin lifting so soon. It is a tribute to the balance between smart health regulations and pragmatic business decisions.

Things are not perfect, but they’re a lot better than elsewhere.

As the lockdowns ease while we still maintain sensible precautions, the radio and advertising industries are beginning to see the first green shoots.

Yesterday Nova 96.9 Executive Producer Tommy, along with Fitzy & Sarah got their Coronavirus results back and they were all negative for COVID 19.
 
This morning the news for Wippa and newsreader Matt De Groot  is also good as they have tested negative.

That means the entire team is all clear, though they are still broadcasting from their in-home studios.

Matt de Groot adds Wide World Of Sports commentator to his busy schedule

Nova 96.9's Matt de Groot made his Channel 9 debut over the week as part of the 'Wide World of Sports' commentary team for their rugby league coverage. 
 
Matt described it as an incredible opportunity, and a chance to develop and learn from the best in the industry.
 

COVID19 moves some of radios biggest programs into isolation

Schedules for radio are being thrown into chaos with a number of high-profile presenters either confirmed COVID-19 cases, or self-isolating because of close contact with the disease.
 
Nine Radio has put Sydney stars Alan Jones and Ray Hadley, and Melbourne duo Ross Stevenson & John Burns into isolation. Hadley and Jones are broadcasting from their respective properties and Ross & John are holed up at Stevenson’s house.

Matt De Groot wins Headline-Off with baby news

This morning on Nova 96.9’s Fitzy & Wippa, Matt De Groot was joined by wife Bronte Coy for what the team thought was a round of ‘Headline Off’, in which MDG, goes head to head against other News/Media personalities.
 
It was during the segment that the couple surprised the team by revealing they are expecting their first baby, and that makes two babies on the way for the Fitzy & Wippa team, with Wippa & wife Lisa expecting their first baby girl next month.

Paul Gallen leaves radio host with suspected broken rib

This morning on Nova 96.9 Fitzy & Wippa their unsuspecting newsreader and Saturday Breakfast host, Matt De Groot was thrown in the ring for a surprise fight with Paul Gallen, leaving him with a suspected broken rib.  
 
Matt is a doppelganger for Sydney Swans legend Barry Hall, who takes on Gallen in the ring on November 15 and Gallen has been looking for sparring partners with a similar build to Barry Hall, and De Groot fits the bill.
 

Fitzy & Wippa stitch up radio rivals Jonsey & Amanda.

At a recent charity auction for ‘Save Our Sons’, Nova 96.9’s Fitzy & Wippa saw a ‘Jonsey & Amanda Meet and Greet’ WSFM station tour up for auction and convinced producer Lucy’s husband to secretly purchase it for them.
 
They were toying with using prosthetics but as Fitzy’s allergic to latex and 6”6 tall they decided to instead recruit Jett, 12, to go in under the guise of a ‘school project’ with a list of questions from the class.
