Nova 1069 on air, despite technical glitch: LAUNCH PHOTOS

Work experience guy, Bevan, has done his best to sabotage the official launch of Brisbane’s Nova 106.9, but the opening has gone ahead relatively unscathed.

Was it industrial sabotage? Bevan managed to press the ‘red’ button instead of the ‘green’, taking the new station off air before it had even begun!

But that didn’t stop the celebrations as the photos show.

Award winning Australian group, Evermore, was on hand to salvage the in studio situation, performing “For One Day” as the first official song on Nova 106.9.

After sorting out the earlier chaos, the breakfast team of Meshel, Ash and Kip with Luttsy was first on air, followed by Merrick and Rosso, Jamie Row, Emily Jade O’Keeffe and Whippy. Justine McKell was joined by Jabba of Channel [v] to round out the night.

Bevan has promised us there will never be more than two stuff ups in a row from here on in!

106.9 completes DMG’s Nova network, just over four years after the first station began broadcasting in Sydney.

The new studios at Level 1, 130 Commercial Rd, Teneriffe are not quite finished, but the launch went ahead as planned.

Nova has been testing in Brisbane for many months and has already made an impact in the surveys. It will officially be counted from survey three onwards and the real impact of the station will be accurately measured.
