Melbourne Radio School moves to a new home: studio pictures

Ace Radio has moved its Melbourne Radio School to a new location in Albert Road, and upgraded its training facilities. The new studios were opened this week by Ace Radio owner Rowly Paterson.

The company has spent around $100,000 on the upgrade, which included two studios, a voiceover booth, a large training room, offices and reception. The new location is next door to Ace Radio’s head office, just off St Kilda Road.

Studio 1 is a working studio, which broadcasts Trent McCurdy’s top rating Dirty Thirty program to the network’s FM stations. It uses a Klotz Xenon panel, NextGen playout system, CD players and a multi-line talkback phone system. It also contains a Protools 003 desk for production.

Studio 2 uses an Elan Kestral desk and NextGen system. Between the two studios is a voiceover booth. The school has bought Beyer and Rhode microphones.

TV and radio sports presenter Craig Hutchison spoke at the launch before heading off to appear on The Footy Show. Hutchison does his national sports radio show Off The Bench from the MRS studios each Saturday. He told the invited guests that the studios are the best he has ever worked in, and emphasized the quality of the people training at the school.

Also speaking at the launch, Rowly Paterson praised Ace Radio’s Executive Manager for the school, Cathy Jubb and full time staff member Heidi Everett for the work done to get the new premises up and running.

Melbourne Radio School runs a range of courses at all levels. Visit the school’s newly revamped website for full details.
