The Australian is reporting (subscription required) that Mark Carnegie has agreed to sell his stake in Macquarie Media to Nine.

Ray Hadley to remain in hospital

Macquarie Media and 2GB have released a statement on the ongoing health issue of Ray Hadley, saying that he will remain in hospital.
 
Hadley was forced to leave his onair shift on Monday as he succumbed to an attack of diverticulitis.

 
The following statement was posted on the 2GB website
 

Ray was admitted to hospital on Monday after another attack of diverticulitis.

It’s a painful condition that has required treatment in hospital.

Singleton and Carnegie close to accepting Nine's offer

Macquarie Media’s major independent shareholders, John Singleton and Mark Carnegie are reportedly ready to accept the bid from Nine Entertainment to acquire the remaining shares in the radio network.
 
According to the SMH, the pair are just waiting for an independent report from PwC to see if the offer is recommended.
 

Chris Smith leaves 2GB

Chris Smith and 2GB have come to an agreement on the future of the presenter with him to leave at the end of July.

Following a week of turmoil surrounding his position at the station during which he engaged lawyers to act on his behalf, the two parties have finally come to an agreement.

After 18 years and over 60 number 1 surveys in his time slot, it is understood that Smith was asked to vacate his afternoon shift in a straight swap with Steve Price that would have put him into nights.

HT&E up by 3.5%, but warn of a slower 2019

HT&E have presented their annual report showing their radio revenue grew by 3.5% in 2018, despite slowing in the 2nd half of the year.

ARN’s revenue of $235.5 million was up by 3% on the previous year, but a 14% increase in operating costs to $30.8 million meant an EBITDA net increase of just 1% to $80.5 million.

Victorian DPP seeks jail for Australian media

The Director of Public Prosecutions has called on 36 organisations and individuals to appear before a Supreme Court hearing on April 15 to answer accusations they breached a suppression order when publishing material about the George Pell trial last year.

Among those named in documents presented to the Victorian Supreme Court are 2GB’s Ray Hadley and Chris Smith as well as Macquarie Media.

Fairfax shareholders will vote on the merger with the Nine Network just prior to the company’s AGM in November.
 
The Scheme papers have now been sent out to eligible shareholders outlining the proposed merger.
 
If the Scheme is approved and implemented, eligible shareholders will receive 0.3627 new Nine Shares in addition to $0.025 in cash for each Fairfax Share held.
