Judge Judy on the radio

In what might be described as Judge Judy on radio, a Mt Gambier magistrate has suggested that court proceedings be broadcast on radio so that the public can better understand the legal system.

The ABC reports that Bill Morris says that while the court is open to the public, few community members have the time to attend.

Mr Morris says the public should be able to hear justice being dealt out.

“Why shouldn’t people listen to what’s happening in court while they’re at their workplace, or at their home or out the back if they want to.”

“It would make it a truly public place. It is their place, it’s where justice is administered in their community and they have a right to know what’s happening down here.”

radioinfo has it’s doubts as to whether this format will take off despite the fact that the cases are real and people are real!
