774 ABC Melbourne’s Mornings program will be presented by Waleed Aly for two weeks from today, Monday 26 September until Friday 7th October while Jon Faine is away on leave. 
Aly is currently a host of The Project on Network Ten and co-hosts The Minefield, a weekly program on ABC RN about the ethical dilemmas of modern life.

Faine criticised the newspaper after articles about agressive behavious by homeless people showed their faces. Faine thought the identities of the people should not have been revealed.

Determined to find new locations for the old OB, 774 ABC Melbourne is preparing to do an outside broadcast from inside the State Library of Victoria. From next Friday through Monday, the station is relocating its Southbank headquarters across the Yarra to the historic institution on Swanston Street.

Multicultural Museums Cook Off

The live radio program will be broadcast on 774 Digital Radio and streamed online at (Cricket Grand\stand coverage from 10.30am in analogue), from 10am - 12noon.

774 ABC Melbourne’s great debate for mental heatlh

774 ABC Melbourne will present a great debate live on Tuesday October 6 at The Edge, Federation Square. Asking the question: “Is our obsession with sport mental as?”

The live event is part of the ABC’s support of Mental Health Week, October 4 -11. The ABC is going “Mental As” with a range of programming from comedy to documentary, entertainment to debate, aiming to help join the dots on mental health and challenge the stigma on an issue that impacts almost half of all australians.

Faine probes Michael Mason on the future of ABC Radio

One of the reasons for discussing this topic now is the BBC's Charter Review, which some commentators have used to raise the possibility of a similar review at the ABC.

Jon Faine, Daniel Ziffer and Andy Burns, 774 ABC Melbourne have picked up a gong at the Victorian Legal Reporting Awards.

The team won Best Report on Radio for their story ‘Family Court crisis: Chief Justice breaks silence to slam government funding for Legal Aid’.

The report broke rare ground by getting the Chief Justice of the Family Court on air (and in studio) detailing severe problems in her court and other Family law jurisdictions because of Legal Aid shortages.

Media industry in immense trouble: Neil Mitchell

Last month at the Melbourne Press Club, the 'titans of talk" Neil Mitchell and Jon Faine discussed radio and the comparative values of Commercial Radio and the ABC.

Mitchell said the media industry, including radio, is in "immense trouble"  with the changing news cycle and the new way that audiences consume media.

Faine told Mitchell, "we share technology but we don't share values," saying the ABC exists for "completely different reasons to commercial radio."
