ARN stations not eligible for next round of Jobkeeper

They say if you're paying tax, at least you're making money.

The same goes for government subsidies, if you're not eligible, you must be doing ok.

ARN's parent company HT&E has calculated that it will make enough money in coming months to exclude it from the Jobkeeper subsidy.

SCA confirms JobKeeper eligibility until early next year

Southern Cross Media has confirmed the company's eligibility for continued support under the JobKeeper program until January next year.
 
According to SCA, ad bookings for the December quarter are stronger, and with the gradual easing of COVID-19 restrictions in Victoria, the company expects revenues to recover to a level where SCA would no longer be eligible for JobKeeper past January 3rd.
 
Until then SCA expects to receive approximately $12 million in JobKeeper payments.
 

Some radio salaries will return to normal next month

After a tough few months of stand-downs, redundancies and restructuring, where many radio industry staff in all sectors have lost their jobs, some stations are planning to return salaries to normal as advertising slowly increases and sentiment begins to turn around.

Today the nation's unemployment figures improved, showing some signs of green shoots as Australia begins to regain control on the pandemic.

ARN sheds jobs as fallout from covid continues

Like others in the radio industry, ARN has been forced to cut costs due to falling advertiser revenues.

According to sources with knowledge of the cuts and who wished to remain anonymous, about 5% of ARN’s workforce, around 25 people, are affected.

An official statement from a spokesperson says: “ARN is making some changes this week to both streamline and strengthen the business due to the effects of COVID-19. As a result, we’re currently in consultation with a small percentage of impacted staff regarding a proposed JobKeeper stand down for the next few months.

Job Keeper grant helps radio stations retain staff

Many businesses, including radio companies, breathed a collective sigh of relief this week when the government announced a relief measure aimed to keep staff connected with their employers, called JobKeeper.

The JobKeeper payment is intended to provide wage subsidies to businesses that are significantly affected by COVID-19.
