Jay & Dave celebrate Mackay milestone

Sea FM Mackay’s Breakfast Show has just celebrated 1000 shows, making them the longest running breakfast show around Mackay and The Whitsunday’s.

Jay & Dave celebrated the milestone live from the back of a ute driving for the four hours they we were on air to local landmarks and listeners houses to say hello and thank them for their support over the past 5 years.

And what’s their fondest memory from all those shows?

…so many to chose from,” says Jay Shipston. “But for me, it was when we had young Seth on the show. He was born with a heart defect and doctors and parents weren’t sure he would make it past 13. But we organised for him to travel to TSV, and run the North QLD Toyota Cowboys out onto the field. When we told him what we had organised, he cried, I cried, his mum cried and so did Dave. It was a magical moment.

“There’s a number of highlights so I don’t think I can narrow it down to one….. Seth was a massive one, so too was breaking the news to one huge KISS fan that he was going to get to meet his idols (we surprised him by storming into the room he was in, complete with the tv & paper crews)…. that was special…. And I think we created a first 3 years ago with a prostate exam live on air…… a more recent one was a surprise visit from my father in Sydney, which Jay organised – usually I can read him like a book because he giggles when he’s hiding something, that time he didn’t (it came at the right time too, I was feeling a little low),” says Dave Peters.

Congratulations.
