Indigenous AFTRS Graduate to be Showcased on ABC NAIDOC

Carly Wallace, an Indigenous AFTRS graduate, will be showcased on ABC Radio, for a the special events digital radio station – ABC NAIDOC

The purpose of ABC NAIDOC is to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture by introducing new Indigenous voices to the airwaves.

The week-long broadcast will showcase new Indigenous talent from around Australia, including Carly Wallace on Breakfast (Cairns) and other indigenous broadcasters from ABC Radio, plus students from Brisbane’s 4AAA and a desert-island disc show hosted by David Page
 
“ABC NAIDOC on digital radio gives us a great opportunity to develop our exciting new Indigenous talent on a national stage,” said James O’Brien, the Manager of Network Development for ABC Local Radio, in a press release. “Carly Wallace, the first Indigenous graduate from AFTRS, is a very exciting talent we are delighted to have on board; she is certainly a name to keep your eyes on.”
 
An exclusive conversation between Ann Summers and Dr Anita Heiss, recorded at the National Centre for Indigenous Excellence, will be broadcast on ABC NAIDOC at 1pm on Wednesday July 4.  This is a follow-up interview to Dr Heiss’ appearance at the Sydney Writers Festival on Saturday, where she spoke about her book ‘Am I Black Enough For You’
