Home & Hosed: on your radio and online

triple j’s influential Australian new music show Home & Hosed will be on air nationwide at 9pm next Monday 23rd with new hosts Dom Alessio and Steph Hughes. The 2009 version of Home & Hosed promises to make the most of both Radio and online media to champion new Australian music.

With digital radio and internet dramatically expanding the pipes delivering programming, new and unsigned acts are the big winners. Last month it was Austereo’s Radar, yesterday Triple M’s Unsigned Find – not to mention Nova’s overall commitment to new music – and now Home & Hosed which will come in two parts.

First there’s the Home & Hosed blog with two posts daily and a range of new and unsigned tracks to stream. Plus the Home & Hosed blog contains a forum, the ideal platform for listeners to share their thoughts with the massive community of music fans from Australia and around the world.

Then there’s the nightly Home & Hosed radio show, a distilled hour of Dom and Steph’s recommended tracks of the moment broadcast nationally.

Chris Scaddan triple j’s Program Director says that the new Home & Hosed format is about reaching Australian music lovers online “The time is right for Home & Hosed to become the number one place online to discover new Australian music of all types. The online platform is perfect for Home & Hosed because it’s immediate, on demand and allows in-depth discussion.”

Prior to nabbing the co-host spot on Home & Hosed, 25 year old Sydneysider Dom Alessio was Associate Editor for street press The Brag, as well as contributing to Australian music website Mess + Noise, Cyclic Defrost and Groupie magazines. His Australian music expert credentials are impeccable; he co-founded ‘Who The Bloody Hell Are They?’ one of Australia’s most popular music blogs and the first music blog to focus exclusively on local music.

Steph Hughes, 22, from Melbourne has been busy playing in, touring with and recording six Victorian bands. The experience has, in her words “Taken me on a few journeys that chewed me up and spat me out somewhere in a sea of hard-earned Aussie music knowledge (and with the added bonus of a heightened tolerance for numb-arse trips in people movers).”

Steph channelled her music knowledge into establishing one of Melbourne’s only all-ages venues in Melbourne’s inner-north. She says Home & Hosed is an amazing opportunity “I am absolutely thrilled to get the chance to continue to develop a thriving community of listeners and artists.”

Home & Hosed from 9pm-10pm each week, Monday through to Thursday from February 23 – only on triple j.
