In an effort to encourage listeners to support local businesses across Newcastle and The Hunter, Hit106.9’s Nick, Jess & Ducko are bringing the region ‘Big Friday Takeaway’ on Friday 29 May.
 
From crispy thin crust pizza to juicy spring rolls, Nick, Jess and Ducko want to help out local businesses who have been impacted in recent times, so they are encouraging the community to support local restaurants and takeaway shops by turning off the stove and ordering in a delicious feed.
 

SCA Newcastle stations launch shop local campaigns

After SCA’s announcement of their national Shop Local campaign, SCA Newcastle’s stations 102.9 Triple M and Hit106.9 have launched the localised initiative aimed at encouraging communities to come together and support local businesses by ‘shopping local’.
 
Shop Local is the largest national and locally voiced campaign SCA has ever rolled out, with over $1 million of SCA’s owned media invested in the campaign.

Ducko joins Nick & Jess at Hit106.9 Newcastle

Newcastle’s Hit106.9 will welcome Nick ‘Ducko’ Allen-Ducat to its breakfast team, joining Jess Farchione and Nick Gill from Monday 20 January.
 
Ducko comes with an array of radio experience, spending most of his time with Nova Entertainment in Sydney and most recently in Brisbane across announcing and producing roles.
 
In 2019, Nick became the host of Smashdown, a national children’s TV program due to air on Channel 9GO! this year.
 

Mike Byrne is the new CD for WSFM

Triple M consolidates its lead in Newcastle : GFK survey 2

Triple M Newcastle has consolidated its lead in the latest GFK survey for the Hunter.
 
Up slightly to 17.5 overall, Triple M leads stablemate Hit106.9 (12.7) from triple j (12.5) and the ABC Newcastle (9.8).
 
The other two commercial stations continue to trail with NEW FM improving a little to be at 8.1 while 2HD has lost 1.8 to be back on 6.2.

Hit 106.9 Newcastle's Nick, Jess & Simon recently interviewed Newcastle Knights fullback Kalyn Ponga, but it wasn't long before co-host Simon Baggs asked the NRL star 'What's going on dating wise? Are you dating anyone at the moment?'

'No, not dating anyone. Very single,' said Ponga.

'I've got someone who actually said to me "I love Kalyn Ponga"', Baggs continued.
