PodcastOne Australia, the leading commercial podcast network in Australia,  celebrates its first birthday today, with more than 54 million downloads in its first year.

“PodcastOne Australia may only be 1 year old, but we feel the business is much more mature than that,” says CEO of SCA Grant Blackley.

SCA posts 21% profit fall

Southern Cross Austereo, which operates the Triple M and Hit networks, and also has a regional television affiliation with the Nine network, says revenue for the six months to December 31 has fallen by 5.3 per cent to $333.3 million.

Profit has dropped 21% to $38.2 million, according to figures released today in its half year report to the stock exchange.​​

Earnings dropped to $78.1 million, from $92.6 million a year ago.

Reporting a 7% fall in revenues at yesterday's SCA Media Group AGM, CEO Grant Blackley cited an Australian media industry 'subject to challenging trading environments,' and a subdued metropolitan radio market.

Now that the media laws reforms have passed the Senate and look set to pass the House of Reps next week, media CEOs are all thinkinng about how things will change.

They discussed the possible deals and implications of the reforms in a panel session at Radfio Alive today:
