Graham Webb bows out of breakfast on FM 104.9

Breakfast announcer and co-founder of Sunshine FM 104.9 on the Sunshine Coast Graham Webb has been replaced by Cam Young, formerly with the ABC Station CoastFM. Mr Webb has been invited to stay on by the Management Committee (MC) as they implement a “live to Air” Policy from 6 am- 6pm.

However, at 75 years of age, Mr Webb who, along with Phil Ward, developed a fully automated system called SmartSound which had been successfully running all programmes until 2 years ago when a new automated system was introduced by the MC.

The Station which, under its licence conditions, has been serving the Seniors on the Sunshine Coast, has according to Mr Webb brought in much younger music when it introduced Station PlayList.

Mr Webb has now willingly stepped aside to join a Sunshine FM Music Committee to, in his words, “Get rid of the Crap and get back on track to serve the older listeners.”

He will also be training new volunteer announcers, giving them the benefit of his 57 years of experience.

To help the transition for the older listeners Mr Webb, who has been conducting the Breakfast Session for over 11 years, will have several of his daily features still heard on Cam Young’s Breakfast session.
