Grace Gibson moves west

After 20 years in Crows Nest, Grace Gibson Productions has relocated to the Blue Mountains, closer to home for proprietor Bruce Ferrier who says new technology has now made it easier to syndicate radio productions from anywhere.

Sick of commuting to and from the Blue Mountains, Bruce Ferrier and his team have bitten the bullet and re-located the office to Leura. ?New address details are below.

Ferrier has told radioinfo:

“In this day and age, more sense, more sanity: overnight couriers aren’t the pivotal point they used to be!

“We’ll still be using our Sydney production studio affiliates, like TSD, for recording the likes of Cactus of course, but we don’t have the same need to be right next to ‘overnight couriers’ as was the case in the past: urgent stuff is all digitally delivered now.”

The former Crows Nest base of 22 years, with its own ‘baby studio’ is now on the market. Contact Bruce for details.

Grace Gibson Productions is Australia’s longest established radio program syndication company, founded in the 1950s by American radio producer Grace Gibson. An article from B&T Magazine in 1952 described the background of the company’s formation, saying:

Pleasant, highly-popular personality Grace Gibson, a successful businesswoman as well as being a talented and able radio producer, has made herself and her organisation part of commercial radio history in Australia. Brought out by 2GB 18 years ago, Grace Gibson pioneered American transcriptions here and sold the first American programs (Frank and Archie and Chandu the Magician) to 2GB.

She started the American Radio Transcription Agency – cable address, Artransa, which became the title of Macquarie Broadcasting Service’s successful transcription subsidiary.

Gibson went back to America at the outbreak of war in the Pacific in 1941 and became the head of a large program-production company in Hollywood.  Returning to Australia in 1944 to marry Irishman Ronnie Parr, personnel manager of Consolidated Press, she founded Grace Gibson Radio Productions, which today ranks high among the successful program sources in the southern hemisphere.

Since 1946, in its eight years of operation it has produced a total of more than 6000 quarter-hour programs producing no fewer than 25 a week, all of which are sold.
