Audience measurement: Diaries and PPMs

As radioinfo continues to examine ratings, we compare the new smart diary system now adopted in Australia with the PPM system used in the US.
 
Two years ago Australian advertising agencies were crying out for change in the way the radio industry measured its audience. Electronic tv ratings were available, but, back then, radio was still using only paper diaries.

GfK’s AudienScope insights; a national online survey of radio behaviour, have provided an additional perspective to the Australian radio ratings.
 
Launched in May 2014, this is the second instalment for this behavioural study which is an ongoing part of the radio audience measurement contract, and a new initiative from GfK.  While the radio ratings provide data on “who” is listening to “what”, AudienScope looks at the reasons “why” by delving deeper into listening behaviour.
 

Survey 4: Out Soon!

With the release of GfK  Survey 4 at 9.30 this morning there’ll be just four more surveys to go in 2014 before the last one in December.

Stations will be anxious to see what trends are being set at the half way mark and their chances of going into the long Christmas break with strong numbers that will pull in the national ad dollars for next year.

In Sydney, will Jonesy and Amanda consolidate their FM breakfast lead or will Kyle and  Jackie O snatch it back from them?

Radio delivers a more human connection than other media and is the leader in “share of ear” according to the first AudienScope behavioural insights research, released today by Australia’s new radio audience measurement provider, GfK.

AudienScope is a national online survey of radio behaviour, providing context and additional perspective to the Australian radio ratings.  The research will be released quarterly and involves 5,000 respondents per year.
