Survey 3: Will the birthday champers continue to flow for smoothfm?

The birthday cake has been eaten, bottles of fizz downed and the candles well and truly blown out following smoothfm's fifth birthday celebrations last month.

But will the champagne be flowing again for the Nova Entertainment brand when the results of GfK Survey 3 are released tomorrow morning?

It was #1 FM in both Sydney and Melbourne with 9.9% exactly in both markets following Survey 2 announced in April.

2JJJ fights back in first survey for the year in Newcastle

KO FM has retained their number position All People 10+ in the latest GfK survey for Newcastle.

Despite shedding 1.4% from the previous survey, KO FM has a 14.3% share followed by Hit 106.9 with 13.1% and ABC 1233 11.6%.

2JJJ increased All People 10+ with an 11.4% share, just pipped at the post for third position by .2%.

In Breakfast KO FM was again #1 with 16.2%, ABC 1233 followed with 14.7% and 2JJJ with 9.8%.

DAB+ survey figures released
 

For the second time since the launch of DAB+ digital radio broadcasts at the end of 2009, audience numbers for all DAB+ only stations have been released one week after the official metropolitan GfK radio ratings. 

The DAB+ summary report shows the cumulative audience for digital only stations, which is the total number of different (unique) people who listen to a DAB+ only radio station in that market for at least eight minutes (one quarter-hour), in a defined period.

A new report released by radio audience measurement company GfK, shows metropolitan and regional radio continues to be the most engaging medium with consumers during the summer months, with nearly nine out of ten (86%) respondents indicating they listen to more radio in summer.

Gemma Fordham was out of the country when Survey 7 was released and the Hit Network was up in every market, but we were assured she was enjoying a champagne.
 
And while she is in Australia for Survey 8, she’s still sipping on the champers with FOX FM kicking away from the Melbourne FM pack to be 1.6 ahead of a surging smooth and 2.0 ahead of next placed GOLD.
 
“The Fox result is an absolute ripper,” says Gemma.

Radio remains the most popular entertainment choice on the road, with Australian commuters largely overlooking the music streaming options that have been introduced into car dashboards, according to research released today.

Radio accounts for 80% of in-car listening, followed by owned music such as CDs and downloads making up 12% of listening, and three per cent of listening going to the streaming services Apple Music, Pandora and Spotify, the GfK Australian Share of Audio study found.

The class has worked with more than 50 industry specialists throughout the year to learn everything they need to know to be job ready.

NEXT is a showcase of their talents and the format has been conceived following a blue sky session with Cherie Romaro and a thorough examination of the data to identify a gap in the Sydney market with Ann-Maree Nolan from ratings company GfK.
