The Top 100 Most Played Songs of 2020: AirCheck

AirCheck™ has released figures showing ‘Blinding Lights’ in the top spot this year, with 30,006 spins.

The smash hit, released on 29 November 2019, received its first spin of the year just after midnight on 1 January on Star 104.5 on the Central Coast. Since then, the release has garnered airplay across 31 radio stations.

Nova 969 Sydney spun the track more than any other station, adding 2,057 instances, while the Nova network collectively accounted for more than a third of the year’s airplay.

Ross and Russel still command the biggest numbers in breakfast for a single market despite a drop of 73,000 listeners for the last survey of the year.
 
Kyle & Jackie O have closed the gap but remain in second place with Bogart Torelli & Glenn Daniel further back.
 
Ben Fordham has improved his numbers, up by 18,000 to 463,000
 
The biggest improvers were Fifi Fev & Byron up by 85,000.

Nick Cody joins The Fox for breakfast in 2021 as Byron Cooke quits

Stand-up comedian and broadcaster, Nick Cody, will join The Fox’s breakfast show in Melbourne alongside Fifi Box and Brendan Fevola.
 
After six years The Fox breakfast show anchor, Byron Cooke, has decided Friday 27 November will be the last time his alarm goes off at 4am and will be pursuing other projects he is passionate about.
 

The Fox favourites return to celebrate 40 years

The Fox is as synonymous with Melbourne as the MCG, Luna Park, a flat white or a beer at The Espy and is this year celebrating an extraordinary 40 years on air.
 
To mark the occasion a cavalcade of stars from years gone by will return to the station for a one-off broadcast on Friday 16 October from 9.00am.

Over the last four weeks, Fox FM and Nova100 had the highest crossover according to AirCheck Australia, sharing over a third of their playlists. During this time Fox played a wider range of tracks while Doja Cat’s ‘Say So' was the most played song on the two stations with 330 spins.
