Fairfax Radio Network’s suite of station apps are now available in Ford SYNC AppLinkTM-enabled vehicles. 

This allows users with compatible smartphone apps to use the car’s display screen, steering wheel-mounted buttons and voice control system to interact with mobile apps, all whilst keeping their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. 

Ford SYNC AppLink is available on Fiesta, Focus ST, EcoSport, Ford Kuga, Ranger and Transit range of vehicles.

MRN announces 25% earnings drop, foreshadows 65% profit fall

Macquarie Radio Network took a 7% hit to its share price today after announcing an expected 25% drop in underlying earnings from the second half of 2014.

In news that is not a good look for a company about to merge, an announcement to the stock exchange foreshadowed a 65% drop in profit (NPAT), compared with the previous corresponding financial period.

Abnormal changes of around $2 million for the the half year are expected to reduce reported EBITDA by around 65% as compared to the prior corresponding period.

6PR and 96fm launch road safety campaign in wake of driving and texting tragedy

Fairfax Radio Network’s Perth stations 6PR and 96fm will launch their own road safety campaign this Easter.  The initiative came after a powerful interview by 6PR Mornings presenter Gary Adshead with Maria O’Shea, the West Australian mother who lost three of her four children in a car accident caused by a driver who was texting.
 
Fairfax Radio Network Perth management and staff were so moved by the interview, the stations decided to launch their own campaign to try to change behaviour and stop people from texting whilst driving.

NRL broadcasts back on 4BC

NRL broadcasting will be returning to 4BC, with the first game of the season heard live on Friday night.
 
Fairfax Radio Network has signed a two-year agreement to broadcast ‘The Continuous Call Team’ and NRL matches.
 
4BC’s NRL broadcast will include Brisbane Broncos games, State of Origin matches, as well as other league games throughout the season, culminating in the final series.
 

Fairfax Radio Network announces NAB as first sponsor of 2UE Breakfast

NAB has become the first sponsor of Sydney News Talk station 2UE’s new Breakfast program with John Stanley and Garry Linnell.

NAB’s partnership with 2UE Breakfast consists of live program integration, recorded credits throughout the program and partnership promotional pointers across all programs reinforcing the key NAB Business Banking message of  “NAB -  if you’re ready for more, they’re ready for you” and “NAB - more give less take”.

Fairfax radio Brisbane appoints new sales director

Media executive Liz Illidge is the new Brisbane Sales Director for the Fairfax Radio Network, working across stations 4BC and Magic 882.

Illidge was previously General Manager of WIN NBN Television in Brisbane, where she was responsible for the direct and agency sales teams. With more than 15 years experience in media sales, Illidge has also worked for the Seven Network, Nine Network and all three regional television networks including Prime Television Newcastle and Channel Ten Townsville.
