The Edge retains its edge in Sydney

The Edge Digital remains at the top of the Sydney market despite dropping 14,000 listeners in the second survey of the year.
The Edge (84,000) leads MMM Greatest Hits (70,000), Coles Radio (64,000) and Urban Hits (61,000).
MMM Classic Rock shed almost half it’s audience, down 45,000 to 49,000 listeners.

ABC Jazz appears to be striking a sour note with Sydney listeners, shedding half its audience and dropping to 45,000 listeners for the first survey of 2019 to tumble a long way from the top spot they occupied for the final two survey’s on last year. Perhaps some Jazz lovers also like sport and moved over the ABC Grandstand for the summer.

It was a numbers game this week with Dean Lewis’ ‘7 Minutes’ up 277 spins to No.9, similarly Ariana Grande’s ‘7 Rings’ gained 194 spins to No.19 in the latest AirCheck National Radio Airplay Chart.
It’s been a big week for Lewis with ‘Be Alright’ reaching out No.6 on triple j’s Hottest 100 on Sunday.
His debut album is due to be released early this year.

“From January 15, 2018, Polly & Grant’s breakfast show will be extending beyond More FM Wellington and Kapiti into four additional regions: Waikato, Rotorua, Whanganui and More FM will broadcast on two frequencies in Dunedin, giving listeners the option to tune in to Si & Gary on 97.4FM or Polly & Grant on 100.6FM.”

MediaWorks Radio remains the most popular radio network in New Zealand according to the latest GfK Total New Zealand Commercial Radio Survey, reaching 2,262,100 listeners every week across its nine radio brands - an increase of 53,200 from November 2016.

Total audience share for New Zealand is singing the same tune with MediaWorks stations laying claim to 51.4*** percent of the listening audience - a strong 14.2 percentage points ahead of its closest competitor.
