Edge radio celebrates ten years

Hobart’s youth community station Edge Radio 99.3 turns ten years old this week.

In its founding year, 2003, radioinfo reported on its success as ‘Station of the Year.’

In 2010, the station was in financial trouble, but a campaign to save the station pulled it back from the brink and now it is more financially stable.

As Hobart’s only youth station, Edge Radio provides a mix of music, entertainment, local journalistic content and information to enhance Hobart’s cultural landscape.

The station’s core audience is between 15-30 years, with programming designed to reflect the interests of Hobart, from its studios in the University of Tasmania (UTAS) at Sandy Bay. Edge averages about 40,000 listeners a day.

The station is holding a birthday radiothon until April 14, offering supporter memberships for just $10.

This week the station has had a special series of events and visitors to celebrate its milestone. See more on Edge Radio’s facebook page.
