New CRA Chair and re-elected Board

A new Chair of the Board of Directors has been appointed at the AGM of industry body Commercial Radio Australia. 

Grant Blackley, chief executive officer and managing director of Southern Cross Austereo was elected as Chair of CRA. 

Adam Lang, chief executive officer, Macquarie Media Limited stepped down after four years but will remain on the board and retain his role as Chair of the CRA Research Committee.

Radio joins forces with Pure in major retail push for Christmas sales

The commercial radio industry is joining forces with leading digital radio brand Pure to launch an aggressive retail campaign aimed at putting DAB+ radios high on Christmas shopping lists this year.
Consumers can receive up to $100 cashback if they purchase a Pure digital radio from participating major retailers including Myer, JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys, Harvey Norman, Bing Lee, David Jones and Amazon during the promotion period.

Melbourne Ad growth surges over 9%

Advertising revenue on Melbourne radio has jumped by 9.3% to $127.167 million for the 6 months ending in June, according to figures released today by Commercial Radio Australia.

Revenue for the five major markets totalled $400.989 million in the six months ending June, up from $378.532 million in the corresponding period a year ago.

Overall revenue for the last financial year in all Metropolitan Markets increased by 3.8% to a record $802.974 million.

What we hear on radio influences meal time decisions.

One out of two radio listeners dine out at least once a week, 30% are eating out more frequently than before, according the latest Finding Consumer Trends report released today by Commercial Radio Australia and Presslaff Interactive Revenue.
The Dining Habits survey, which involved more than 2,750 listeners from across Australia, reveals listeners’ preferences and interests when choosing to eat out and at home.
