Missing 90's charts wanted for It's Time

CBAA report on the state of community broadcasting

The Community Broadcasting Association of Australia has released a report on the state of the community broadcasting sector.

According to the report the sector is well positioned with a record six million weekly listeners, 26,000+ volunteers and thousands of financial members and subscribers.

CBAA is seeking guaranteed funding and an extra $5.1 million per year

In the lead up to the Federal Election the CBAA is seeking a guarantee from all parties for continuing recurrent support to ensure the sector survives.
 
It is also asking for an extra $5.1 million annually to allow a larger development and operations grants pool through the General Sustainability and Development Fund to meet the growing needs of community radio stations.

The CBAA gets good news from Google

The Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA) is one of 23 winners in the Google News Initiative (GNI) Asia Pacific Innovation Challenge.
 
Selected from 215 applicants across the region, the CBAA is one of five Australian winners. 
 
The CBAA’s project is focused on digital philanthropy and digital content in community radio news and will receive a share of the total $3.2 million funding pool.
 

2SER appoints a new managing director

The University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and Macquarie University have appointed Martin Walters as Managing Director of radio station 2SER.
 
Walters has been working in broadcasting for 20 years and joins 2SER from a leadership role at the CBAA where he managed its national programming service, the Community Radio Network (CRN).
 
 This role included establishing multimedia content projects and leading a digital transition process.
 

Natalie Pozdeev looks back on her time on the CBAA Board
