A five-decade veteran of the ABC, Jim Middleton, and former South-East Asia correspondent Catherine McGrath, are the latest casualties of federal funding cuts to the public broadcaster. Middleton, the ABC’s former chief political correspondent widely regarded as one of the straightest shooters in the Canberra press gallery, leaves the corporation today.
