Cate Blanchette injured by flying radio

While listeners have sometimes wanted to throw things at the radio, the reverse happened last night in Sydney where Cate Blanchette was hit by a flying radio on the set of the play A Streetcar Named Desire.

The Radio, a prop in the play, hit Blanchett on the head and the performance had to be cancelled.

Sydney Theatre Company General Manager Rob Brookman says everything is fine now:

“There was a minor accident on stage during last night’s performance of Sydney Theatre Company’s A Streetcar Named Desire. Cate Blanchett was accidentally struck on the head by a prop. She sustained a minor injury but felt fine soon afterwards.

“Unfortunately it was necessary to cancel the rest of that performance.
Cate is fine and tonight’s performance will go ahead as planned.”
