98five’s Kirste and Morro learn a thing or two about sustainability

In what was a windy morning in Perth’s western suburbs, 98five’s Brekky team of Kirste and Morro learned insightful ways on how to reduce their plastic use through sustainability recommendations during the station’s Floreat Park Primary School

The show caught up year five students, Jasper and Evie who informed Kirste and Morro that they had a message they wanted to get out to our listeners.

98five's Kirste and Morro took the Brekky show to Hilton Primary School, for the station's fortnightly Free Coffee Friday, where 20 per cent of students are of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island descent.
The show caught up with Steve Kinnane who championed the school's Aboriginal Reference Group.

98five dons the bandanas for cancer

98five's Kirste and Morro took the Brekky Show to Mosman Park Primary School, for the station's fortnightly Free Coffee Friday.
The school yard was awash with bandanas as students supported National Bandana Day, which raises funds for CanTeen — an organisation that helps teenagers suffering from cancer.

It was a trip down memory lane for 98five Brekky host Kirste, as she took the Brekky show with Morro to her old school — Oberthur Primary School, Bull Creek — for the station's fortnightly Free Coffee Friday.
The school has a Chinese language and culture orientated program where students participate in an exchange every two years to visit families in Beijing, Xian, Hangzhou and Shanghai.
Jiegi Zhang, The Chinese Cultural and Language Teacher said the program started in 2005.

98five visits animal-mad Mindarie Primary School

A therapy dog and life-sized fiberglass cow took centre stage this morning as Kirste and Morro took the Brekky show to Mindarie Primary School for the station’s fortnightly Free Coffee Friday.
The school’s dog, a female beagle named Maxie, greeted the kids as they entered school and helped support and comfort them.

98five celebrates generosity with North Woodvale Primary School

Despite what was a drizzly morning in the northern suburbs, The North Woodvale Primary School Choir transported listeners to the heart of New York with their rendition of I’ll be there for you by The Rembrandts — a song made famous by the popular US sitcom Friends.

Eoin Cameron returns to breakfast

Recently retired  Eoin “Cammo” Cameron is once again setting his wake up alarm for the crack of dawn to join 98five’s Brekky with Kirste and Morro tomorrow from 8am.
After 47 years in the industry, Mr Cameron turned off his ABC720 breakfast show microphone in March but Brekky host Paul “Morro” Morrison — West Coast Eagles chaplain and musician — convinced him to temporarily come out of retirement.

98five celebrates the end of the school term

98five’s Kirste and Morro took the breakfast show to South Lake Primary School for the final free Free Coffee Friday of the school term.
Students and teachers indulged in free coffee and donuts provided by 98five’s ice cream van man Paul, and the South Lake Primary School Choir belted out a heart-stopping rendition of “Colours from the Wind” from Disney’s Pocahontas.

98five’s Brekky duo max out WA’s only hot chip vending machine before 9am

98five’s Brekky with Kirste and Morro officially emptied WA’s newest hot chip vending machine with the help and support from their 40,000 plus listeners.
The machine  takes three minutes to cook up a serve and was cleared of its 40 buckets of chips within three hours.

Perth’s 98five’s inaugural ‘Family mAshes’ ended in dramatic fashion on Friday, with the Northern Stars only one run away from glory after running out of time to compete their innings. 
Captained by Brekky’s host Morro, 98five’s North of the River listeners ‘The Northern Stars’ were chasing 120 runs, set by their South of the River counterparts ‘The Southern Crosses’, led by Brekky co-host Kirste.
