But when they reached out to their listeners for assistance in creating a giant blanket, the overwhelming response saw hundreds of squares donated.

Bob Rogers turned 90 this week, celebrating his birthday with workmates at 2CH after finishing his daily shift.

Rogers is one of the world's oldest daily live broadcasters. He is heard six days a week, presenting mornings Monday to Friday on the Sydney station, and also hosts a pre-recorded weekend nostalgia show.

Bob Rogers celebrated his 88th birthday at 2CH this morning with a bingo themed birthday cake.

Bob has been working in radio for 72 years, starting in 1942 as a panel operator for 3XY Melbourne at the age of 16.

Since then he has been a presenter on 4BH, 2UE and 2SM before moving to 2CH in 1995.

He also had a five year run in television, presenting The Bob Rogers Show on the Seven Network.

Bob continues to present mornings on 2CH, Monday to Friday from 9am to 1pm.
