Amidst the euphoria of a stunning start to the year for its new KIIS brand as well as a resurgent WS-FM, ARN’s top brass may have been forgiven for opting out of last night’s function for their lesser known third brand, The Edge 96.ONE. But no, CEO Ciaran Davis, Network PD, Duncan Campbell were both there along with a bevy of senior execs including Edge and WSFM PD Charlie Fox to lend enthusiastic support to this unique station that serves up hip hop and dance hits to the ethnically diverse youth of the western suburbs of Sydney.

ARN is making hay while the sun shines, launching a new social media platform that will allow listeners to feel even more a part of the Kyle and Jackie O experience.  

The new digital collaboration with Moment Media aggregates all KIIS and Kyle and Jackie O social media content into one place and allows listeners to create their own profile pages, updates and private or group messaging to provide a fully interactive experience.

APN releases annual report

Following APN's AGM last month, the company has now released its annual report.

Report highlights include:

  • $63m of net cash inflows, ahead of target
  • More than $40m of publishing cost savings, ahead of target
  • Strong radio market share gains and earnings growth
  • Statutory net profit after tax $2.6m
  • EBITDA $162.8m (best growth rate since 2005)
  • NPAT $59.5m (best growth rate since 2007)

An eyewitness at the Barangaroo fire caught WSFM breakfast host Amanda Keller's attention so she has had his classic comments remixed into a song.

His comments turned the Irishman eyewitness into an instant sensation.

iHeartRadio launches Shamrock station for St Patrick's Day

Following on from the recent launches of Warner Music, Hoyts, and Durex custom radio stations, the Australian Radio Network is undertaking another brand collaboration, this time with Tourism Ireland, and it’s digital music service iHeartRadio.
 

Kiss and KIIS to co-exist, as legal battle ends

Late last year radioinfo covered the ongoing legal battle between Kiss FM in Melbourne and the ARN's new KIIS FM in Sydney.

Today, ARN has released a statement confirming that the two stations have reached a mutual and confidential agreement and will both continue to broadcast under their respective names. No more information of the agreement is available at this point.

The Australian Radio Network has launched a new marketing campaign for Melbourne’s Mix 101.1 and Brisbane’s 97.3FM, with an outdoor campaign across both markets.

Central to the campaign for Mix101.1 is the new tagline 'Music That Moves You'. The network believes that the new tagline represents the 'energetic, fun and entertaining; breakfast with Chrissie and Jane on Mix 101.1.

APN News and Media Limited will acquire full ownership of Australian Radio Network and New Zealand's The Radio Network from U.S. joint venture partner Clear Channel Communications for $246.5 million.

The transaction will give APN 100% of "the largest network of radio stations in the trans-Tasman region."
