On air evacuation at ARN Sydney

A fire alarm at ARN Sydney this morning led to the on air evacuation of the KIIS, The Edge 96.One and WSFM studios.

On KIIS 1065, Kyle & Jackie O had to cut short a phone interview with British pop superstar Charlie XCX despite the objection of Sandilands.

“We have to go, they’re being serious.” warned Jackie.

 “You can go, I’m just going to talk to Charli for a bit.” replied Kyle.

ARN gets all Emotive about content marketing

ARN and parent company APN have helped launch Emotive, an independent content marketing business founded by Simon Joyce who for years prior was Chief Executive of MCM Entertainment. 

Emotive promises to bring a new model to the content marketing landscape by helping marketers inject emotion into content creation and guaranteeing that this content will be consumed by the right audience. 

APN reports growth in radio

APN News & Media has recorded an Overall Net Profit of $15.2m in financial results released today, for the 2014 calendar year.

APN is the parent company of NZME and ARN, both of which improved their revenue from 2013.

While the Australian radio market grew 3% in 2014, ARN revenue grew 18% to $180.9m and EBITDA grew 14% to $66.5m. Its agency revenue grew 32% to $109.6m, reflecting improved 2014 ratings.

NZME Radio experienced 5% growth in revenue to $116.8m and 7% in EBITDA growth, which sits at $23.1m.

iHeartRadio joins forces with Soundwave Festival

ARN’s iHeartRadio platform has teamed up with Soundwave Festival 2015 to launch a customised station to celebrate all things rock, metal and punk.

The station features music by artists and bands set to take the stage for this year’s festival, including Slipknot, Faith No More, Soundgarden and The Smashing Pumpkins.

ARN buys 96FM Perth from Fairfax: KIIS network expands

Elf Radio broadcasts Christmas spirit

Elf Radio, ARN’s Christmas station is back on air this morning on iHeartRadio and DAB+ Radio.

The station plays classic carols and Christmas tunes from a range of artists including Guy Sebastian, Lady Gaga, Michael Buble, U2, Paul Kelly and more.

Elf Radio has been broadcasting since 2009 and this year won its second ACRA for Best Digital Radio Format – Short Term.

Ciaran Davis awarded CEO of the Year

ARN's Ciaran Davis has been awarded CEO Magazine's top award, CEO of the Year at the third annual Executive of the Year Awards tonight.

Davis began his role in 2010 and, after three years of growth, the challenge was to deliver a business plan that built on this success. His strategy has "combined the best people, most entertaining talent and bold client solutions to build a strong, contemporary media company," according to the awards judges.

Nova Entertainment and KIIS 106.5 fly the flag for radio at B&T Awards

At a glittering event held at The Pavilion in Sydney’s Darling Harbour with more than 900 people, mostly agency types in attendance, M&C Saatchi dominated proceedings but radio managed to get a look in, taking out two of the coveted B&T Awards.
