Albury radio station helps kids stay in town

When it comes to replacing hospital equipment, it’s always an uphill battle, especially if you are not in the city. Not the case this time as Albury Base Hospital’s Children’s ward received a major push through a campaign by local radio station 105.7 The River.

The station’s Give Me 5 4 Kids campaign raised $28,000 which, along existing hospital funding, allowed for the purchase of a new isolet machine, replacing a humidicrib that was over 20 years old.

The new isolet machine will assist young patients to remain in Albury for specialist care rather than having to travel to Sydney or Melbourne.

Greg Allan and Katie Newman from 105.7 The River’s breakfast club told the Border mail that community support had made the program possible and that they planned to start the next fundraising drive for the hospital in June.
