Booing saga heats up the airwaves

Wednesday 29 July, 2015
The Adam Goodes booing issue has done its rounds on radio in the past 24 hours with controversy hitting both Alan Jones and SEN.

Dermott Brereton called into SEN Melbourne to defend himself from Daily Telegraph journalist Rebecca Wilson, after interpreting her remarks against him as being defamatory.

Wilson was criticising Brereton for his publicly voiced opinion on whether Goodes should be booed by AFL crowds.

The exchange got increasingly fiery as it when on, with Brereton threatening legal action against Wilson.

Comment from Peter Saxon

It’s been a month since the ABC’s Q & A made the blunder of giving convicted criminal Zaky Mallah, who advocates gang rape for female journalists with whom he disagrees, a platform from which to taunt the government by telling panelist Steve Ciobo, Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Trade, that he is the one who should have his citizenship revoked.

A Sydney Morning Herald exclusive says Jones'  "fierce campaign against the former army-owned site in Prime Minister Tony Abbott's electorate of Warringah" influcenced the government to reverse the development approval "for an 89-bed aged care home and dementia day care facility."

"We always have to agree with Alan Jones:" Liberal MP, Jamie Briggs

Tuesday 10 February, 2015

Once again, Alan Jones confounded his critics as he dominated the Q&A set Monday night by embracing causes that did not fit his reputation.

Who knew he was against the death penalty? Certainly not the majority of the Q&A audience who had never listened to him but hated him anyway. “It's barbaric, absolutely barbaric, and if we had a death penalty here, Lindy Chamberlain would be dead and she was innocent. I find it just incomprehensible that these people can't yield to pleas for clemency.

Alan Jones to make Q&A debut tonight.

Monday 09 February, 2015

Sir David Attenborough in one of his wildlife documentaries might have described Alan Jones and the ABC as natural enemies.
