SBS Radio partners with AFTRS for bilingual radio scholarship

With a focus on developing bilingual Australian radio talent, SBS Radio has partnered with the Australian Film Television & Radio School  to offer a Graduate Diploma in Radio 2018 scholarship.

The initiative aims to expand and enrich AFTRS’ student community by recognising an outstanding student, selected on the basis of merit from eligible students across several language groups.

The Kim and Dave Show was a powerhouse in Southern Tasmania for over 15 years, ruling the airwaves in Hobart on Sea FM, and later Heart 107.3.
Meantime Dani Torresan and Jason Matthews were entertaining the north of the state, broadcasting their breakfast show across RG Capital's 7LA (Launceston), 7AD (Devonport) 7BU
(Burnie) and 7SD (Scottsdale).

AFTRS Graduate Diploma of Radio students have launched their second pop-up network of the year.

Breakfast co-hosts Mariam and Sam covered 'engaging and relevant content' such as local Nowra successes - a 21 year-old home owner and 18 year-old local bakery owner, both good news stories from broadcast area Nowra.

2RS (which stands for Regional Simulation) streams online for two weeks and mirrors successful regional formats, broadcasting to three regions: Wollongong, Muswellbrook and Nowra.

Precipice, an innovative binaural narrative podcast, will launch as part of the Vivid Ideas 2017 program, part of Vivid Sydney the world’s largest festival of light, music and ideas.

This pilot production is an exploration of the potential for 3D audio narrative storytelling.

AFTRS' has created Precipice in partnership with New York’s WNYC Public Radio, Sydney Philharmonia Choirs VOX, and in consultation with the BBC's audio research division.
