3GG gains on Hit Gippsland: Xtra Insights

531 3GG Forever Classic has jumped 4.4 to 10.1, moving into 2nd place and leapfrogging ABC Radio Melbourne (8.6), triple j (7.4), and ABC Gippsland (7.2) in the latest Xtra Insights survey for Warragul.
 
Hit Gippsland, rebadged from 94.3 Star FM since the last survey in 2016, eased slightly, down 1.3 to 13.8, but are still on top.

When Jon Faine presents his final morning program for ABC Radio Melbourne it will be broadcast live from the Melbourne Town Hall on Friday 11 October.
 
After 30 years behind the mic, 23 of those as an ABC Mornings host, the final broadcast will be a celebration of Jon's outstanding radio career and will recognise the tremendous contribution he has made to the ABC, to Melbourne radio and to the Victorian community.

The co-host of ABC NEWS Breakfast, Virginia Trioli, will take over from Jon Faine next year as presenter of the Mornings program on ABC Radio Melbourne.
  
Faine, who has been presenting his show for 23 years, announced in January that this would be his last year on air.
 
Trioli is well-known to ABC audiences having co-presented ABC NEWS Breakfast since 2008 as well as being a regular stand-in host on Q&A.

Lindy Burns won’t be returning to the microphone in 2019.

The ABC Radio Melbourne Evenings presenter has deciding to return home to Newcastle to spend more time with family.

She made an emotional announcement on air saying that the loss of her mother and her brother’s diagnosis with cancer on the same day earlier this year came as a double shock.

Following conversations with ABC management, Lindy decided to return home to support both her brother who in undergoing chemo, and her 83-year-old father.
