ABC has risen to the challange, Audio consumption up: David Anderson

In his first appearance before the Senate estimates committee since early March, ABC Managing Director David Anderson told Senators:

“The ABC has risen to the challenge and done what our audiences expect of us… In these difficult times we’ve also been a much-needed source of entertainment.”

Anderson’s appearance at Senate Estimates coincided with the release of the ABC’s Annual Report, which revealed overall radio and audio listening figures.

Sandy Aloisi steps back from 40 years in radio

Sandy Aloisi is preparing for her final radio shift, having decided to pull the pin on a 40-year career.
In the late 1970’s, Sandy was Sydney's first female commercial newsreader, working at 2SM, alongside Steve Liebmann, Brian White and John Tingle
She spent much of her career in the commercial radio industry, moving from journalist/newsreader to editor and News Director, and was ultimately appointed program director 2UE.

Emma Alberici sets the record straight about her redundancy

Emma Alberici vented her frustration on Twitter just 24 hours after The Australian's coverage of her agreement to leave the ABC after 18 years.
Despite there being a confidentiality agreement in the settlement, Alberici felt compelled to "put the record straight" on a number of issues she felt "needed clarification" and published a number of tweets about how the redundancy was handled.
Alberici has now removed the tweets.

ABC Managing Director, David Anderson, has paid tribute to Geoff Duncan who passed away recently.
Geoff’s long career in broadcast media included his role as GM of 2GB during the 1980’s before taking on the role of General Manager for the Macquarie Network in 1987/1988.
He moved into television as the station manager of Channel 10 Sydney, and then Managing Director of Capital Television.

Aidan Laverty, most recently the ABC Head of Specialist content, has passed away less than three weeks after leaving his role to seek treatment overseas for an unexpected and rare medical condition.

Andrew Olle Media Lecture is cancelled for 2020

The ABC has announced the cancellation of this year's Andrew Olle Media Lecture due to COVID-19. 

The 2020 lecture was scheduled to be held in Sydney in mid-Novemberand will now  return in November 2021 with an announcement mid next year on who will deliver the 2021 lecture.
