ABC board backs Mark Scott in criticising funding cuts

THE ABC board has taken up its managing director Mark Scott’s criticism of the federal government, saying it was “disappointed” with recent budget cuts and calling the axing of the Australia Network “shortsighted” and a “profound disappointment”… In an unusually florid 2013-14 annual report, the board reiterates Scott’s disappointment that “contrary to pre-election statements made by the Prime Minister, the 2014-15 budget … included a 1 per cent reduction in the corporation’s base funding”.
