98five Sonshine FM celebrates 100 years with Kewdale Primary School

98five’s Morro and Ash took the Breakfast show to Kewdale Primary School this morning to celebrate the schools centenary year as part of the station’s monthly Free Coffee Friday.

Students and teachers were treated to free coffee and donuts as the Primary School choir celebrated the 100th year with a rendition of WA-themed songs “Green Hills of Albany” and “Mighty Long Way”.

The show caught up with School principal Brian Simpson and chaplain Vicki Banks who gave 98five’s 50,000 Brekky listeners an insight into the school’s long and diverse history.

Mr Simpson said he’s proud of what the school has achieved in that time.

“The school opened about three months before the Gallipoli landing. As the school grew new buildings were added but we’re fortunate that we still have the original [class] room that was built in 1915, which is still used today. It’s been an absolutely wonderful morning and a big thanks for 98five for coming down.”
