On the final day of his whirlwind visit to WA, a relaxed Prime Minister joined 98five’s mornings show host Mike Crichton on the phone to express his appreciation for Aussie songstress Tina Arena, a mutual enthusiasm the PM shares with his wife Jenny.
Mr Morrison’s knowledge of the iconic singer stretched further as he was able to list the history and musical trivia about one of his favourite songs Sorrento Moon.

98five fights autism with Gosnells Primary School

A 'WA first specialist learning program for autism' was celebrated at Gosnells Primary School with 98five's Brekky with Kirste and Morro this morning for the station's fortnightly Free Coffee Friday broadcast.

Launched this year, the program assists the students to achieve positive academic, behavioural, social and emotional outcomes to ease transition into the mainstream classroom.

Passionate program coordinator Alison Wade said there are 22 children enrolled in the program, from Kindergarten to Year 6.

98five’s first Free Coffee Friday at Grovelands Primary School

This week, West Australia's 98five Breakfast show with Kirste and Morro parked their mobile studio on the grounds of the picturesque Grovelands Primary School for the Station’s first fortnightly Free Coffee Friday of the year.
The school is 5km from the Mt Nasura Range located in The City of Armadale.

98five celebrates 29th Birthday in style

98five turned 29 in specular fashion yesterday, broadcasting live in front of a record crowd at the Town of Bassendean's Australia Day Celebrations and fireworks.
More than 25,000 spectators braved the 42°C weather and joined Drive's Jeziel at Ashfield Reserve to celebrate our great country.
Jeziel joined MC Phil Walleystack and The Mayor of Bassendean John Gangell to help push the big red plunger to set off the fireworks at 8pm, backed by an exclusive 98five soundtrack.  

98five celebrates the final Free Coffee Friday of 2016 at Halidon Primary School

98five’s Kirste and Morro took the Brekky show to Halidon Primary School, for the station’s final fortnightly Free Coffee Friday of the year — where the focus was on positive mental health and well-being for the students.
The show caught up with Kingsley MP Andrea Mitchell who praised the school’s active role in the community.

The school yard was awash with bandanas as students supported National Bandana Day, which raises funds for CanTeen — an organisation that helps teenagers suffering from cancer.

Brisbane's 96five welcomes ACMA decision

Family Radio Limited, the licensee of Brisbane’s 96five, has welcomed the renewal of its license by the ACMA.

The renewal secures the continuation of a service that began test broadcasting in 1977 and received a permanent full-time license in 2001.

Chairman of Family Radio Limited, Stephen O’Doherty, said the renewal marked another significant milestone for the station.

It was a trip down memory lane for 98five Brekky host Kirste, as she took the Brekky show with Morro to her old school — Oberthur Primary School, Bull Creek — for the station's fortnightly Free Coffee Friday.
The school has a Chinese language and culture orientated program where students participate in an exchange every two years to visit families in Beijing, Xian, Hangzhou and Shanghai.
Jiegi Zhang, The Chinese Cultural and Language Teacher said the program started in 2005.
