92.7 MIX FM Sunshine Coast’s new record for kids’ charity

92.7 MIX FM on the Queensland Sunshine Coast has achieved an outstanding feat in raising $300,177.64 to help change local sick children’s lives, in a record year for the 2014 Give Me 5 for Kids appeal.

The 92.7 MIX FM team, fronted by breakfast personalities Mark & Caroline, volunteered their time to run 36 events over the month of June all for the purpose of raising much needed funds to go to Sunshine Coast Children’s Health Services.

Events this year ranged from auctioned Live Broadcasts, on-air auctioned items and an art auction, to golf days, burger days, movie screenings and a ‘Mobile Jukebox’ which travelled the coast taking live music requests for donations.

92.7 MIX FM’s Give Me 5 for Kids appeal has raised over $3.4 million in 15 years for Sunshine Coast children’s health services.

The figure of $300,177.64 for 2014 means 92.7 MIX FM raised an average of over ten thousand dollars every day of the month for the charity. The fundraising will be boosted by an additional $136,000 from a joint fun-run venture with Cotton On Foundation, the Run Sunshine Coast.

The funds raised will go towards the growing Child Development Service for the Sunshine Coast’s hospital, essential equipment for the Nambour General Hospital’s Paediatric Unit, as well as the wellbeing and entertainment of young patients in the Children’s Ward at the Nambour General Hospital.

92.7 MIX FM’s Caroline Hutchinson says she is so proud of this year’s achievement: “We were nervous about this year’s tally, it’s a tough fundraising market. But once again the Sunshine Coast has done us proud – it’s a huge result for sick kids and their families.”

Give Me 5 for Kids Coordinator Isaac Retchless says the record amount of $300, 177.64 ris a huge result for the Sunshine Coast: “It’s incredible for us to raise that sort of money in one month on the Sunshine Coast with the economy the way it is.

“Without the efforts of the whole team at 92.7 MIX FM and the support of local businesses, it wouldn’t be possible. Right down to the motorist who pulls over and dumps the change in their ashtray into a collection tin to the kid who comes up with their piggy bank – everyone contributes.”
