5CS CDs raise money for Salvation Army Christmas Appeal

1044 5CS has found a unique way to raise money for charity this Christmas.

Program Director Alan Aitken (pictured) has written and produced his own Christmas Poem.

Aitken has told radioinfo: “We started playing the track on air to give the station a bit more of a Christmas feel and the phones started to go wild with listeners wanting to purchase a copy of the poem on CD.”

General Manager Stuart Endersby came up with the idea of selling copies of the poem and donating the profits to charity. Many copies later the CD is still selling well.

“I can’t believe the response to the poem, we have had listeners from Clare, Port Pirie, Port Augusta, Whyalla and the Copper Coast all wanting copies of it. We have even been approached by the local music store for stock.”

All proceeds of the CD will be presented to the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal. The CDs were paid for by McDonalds Port Pirie.
