Central Queensland’s 990 4RO AM is celebrating it’s 80th Anniversary on 2nd July 2012. All the old 4RO jocks from the 1970s are getting back together to help celebrate the big day. The two-day celebration will be hosted by Phil Lentz and Cameron Syrett. They will join with their fellow jocks, managers and staff from the past, many of whom haven’t seen each-other for forty years.
The idea for an on-air reunion was put to 4RO by Phil Lentz a few weeks ago. Manager Josh Farvari and breakfast host Michael Bailey are keen to see what their predecessors have to offer.
The on-air reunion will take place on 28 and 29 June, and 4RO’s “80 years young” birthday is on 2 July 2012.
Most of the 70’s announcers have already been tracked down, but a few are proving difficult. If you know where these ex-4RO announcers are, please let Phil Lentz know on 0417 985 409.

Peter Wear hosted the Queensland version of This Day Tonight on ABCTV. Cameron Syrett did Drive and Breakfast at 2WS. Phil Lentz programmed 94.5FM in Perth, Andrew Haskett teaches Radio and TV in Texas, Al Kirton manages the 4KZ, Kool-FM, 4AM, 4AY, KiK FM group in Far North Queensland, Gary Watling manages a bunch of stations in New Zealand, Gary Eldering (Green) co-owns an Apple Computer business in Canberra and sits on Building Society boards… the list goes on.
