Channel 7's Paul Burt now part of 4BC Weekends

Queensland fishing, boating, weather and surf presenter Paul Burt joins 4BC’s Weekend Breakfast show from this Saturday and Sunday.

The Channel 7 host will be heard each Saturday and Sunday morning from 5:30am to 6:00am, delivering the most up to date boating, fishing, and weather information.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the air waves with 4BC providing up to date information to our listeners on what’s happening in our backyard for all lovers of fishing and boating, to diving and surfing,” Burt said.

Changes to 4BC's Sunday night lineup

One of Australia’s best known doctors, Ross Walker, will bring his weekly radio show to News Talk 4BC from this weekend.

‘Healthy Living’ will air every Sunday night from 6pm to 8pm, followed by the return of ‘Sharina’s Psychic Encounters,’ replacing the Health and Wellbeing show, as foreshadowed earlier this week in our movements section.

“I’m very excited that my Healthy Living show will be available for all Brisbane listeners from 6pm this Sunday Night”, said Walker.

4BC's Ian Maurice leaves radio for theatre

After 14 successful years at Brisbane’s News Talk 4BC, evening newsreader Ian Maurice will hang up his headphones to join the theatre.

The veteran broadcaster has been appointed General Manager of Brisbane’s Arts Theatre and will take up the position from mid-August.

4BC General Manager Anthony Frangi said: “We are of course sad to lose one of Brisbane’s favourite broadcasters, but we are delighted for Ian that he has accepted the position as General Manager of Brisbane’s longest running theatre.

Fairfax Radio Network releases latest iPhone apps

Fairfax Radio Network has  launched its latest suite of iPhone apps for Sydney’s 2UE, Melbourne’s 3AW and Magic 1278, Brisbane’s 4BC and Magic 882 and Perth’s 6PR. The app update was pushed out overnight to tablets and smart phones.

Davis dives for diabetes

4BC Drive presenter Ben Davis has thrown himself out of a plane to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
 
Despite the nerves, the radio host was motivated to take the sky diving challenge for his daughter, Mackenzie, who suffers from Type 1 Diabetes.
 
“If our 7-year old daughter, Mackenzie, can have up to 7-needles a day to stay alive -- and never complain -- then jumping out of a plane's no big deal,” said Ben. 
 
The decision seems to have paid off after he raised $12,460 for the Foundation.

4BC’s drive announcer Ben Davis will put aside his fear of heights and take to the skies on Saturday morning where he will sky dive from 14,000 feet for type 1 diabetes.
 
Ben’s 7 year old daughter McKenzie suffers from type 1 diabetes and Ben is keen to help the cause find a cure.  He’s not looking forward to it but he knows how much McKenzie doesn’t look forward to her daily injections either.
 

Brisbane Produce Markets team with 4BC to help farmers

The Brisbane Produce market is working with 4BC to help drought stricken areas of north western Queensland. The markets have collected 40 tonne of fruit, vegetables and Lucerne to send to the drought affected areas.

4BC spoke with Lindsay Transport which has given a B Double truck to take the stock to Charleville, stopping off at Gatton on the way to collect more and reaching Charleville’s volunteer brigade over the weekend.

NRL broadcasts back on 4BC

NRL broadcasting will be returning to 4BC, with the first game of the season heard live on Friday night.
 
Fairfax Radio Network has signed a two-year agreement to broadcast ‘The Continuous Call Team’ and NRL matches.
 
4BC’s NRL broadcast will include Brisbane Broncos games, State of Origin matches, as well as other league games throughout the season, culminating in the final series.

Four sales people are leaving Fairfax Radio Network's Brisbane operation this week.

James Johnston has left his position as Sales Director 4BC/4BH and has started this week as Direct Sales Director Brisbane Southern Cross-Austereo MMM/B105.

Jay Marschke has left his position as Direct Sales Executive 4BC/4BH and will start in about 2 weeks as Senior Account Executive at ARN Brisbane 97.3/4KQ.
