Historic: 2GB and 2UE newsrooms to merge tonight

Tonight at 6pm is the final news bulletin from 2UE's Greenwich studio following the Fairfax Macquarie merger. The 7 o'clock bulletin will come from the newly merged newsroom in Pyrmont, which is a larger newsroom combining staff from both 2UE and 2GB and created to service both stations and affiliates.

Fairfax Radio Network’s Content Solutions Division today announced the launch of an Australian media first content initiative called The 60 Second Mentor with foundation partner iiNet.
 
The mini mentoring program will feature some of the best and brightest up and coming business owners, entrepreneurs, business coaches and advisors who provide their insights and tips for business managers and owners to be more successful.

Alan Jones is set to storm onto the Brisbane airwaves on a regular basis, following the success of his daily Queensland election program on 4BC. 

Starting Monday February 2, Jones will be a fixture on 4BC’s daily schedule, with ‘The Alan Jones Hour’ broadcast from Midday to 1.00 pm on weekdays.

Jones is currently being sued by for defamation Queensland Premier Campbell Newman among other Queensland politicians, suggesting the new show was created to apply constant pressure to Queensland’s political landscape post-election.

Queensland Premier Campbell Newman and Deputy Premier Jeff Seeney have lodged papers in the Supreme Court, Brisbane in a lawsuit against Alan Jones.

The suit concerns comments Jones made against Mr Newman on special election program for 4BC on Monday 19th January concerning the Acland stage three coal mine. 

Jones confirmed the the action against him while on 4BC this morning.

On a day of  firsts for the Australian radio industry, Alan Jones has debuted on 4BC to add his voice to the Queensland state elections.

In fact, Jones has been heard on the station before but this is the first time since the merger of Fairfax and 2GB Macquarie was announced.

Jones rushed back from holidays to cover Queensland elections.

The first indication of how the newly enhanced talent pool brought on by the merger of Fairfax and MRN could be utilsed is the news that 2GB’s Alan Jones will be heard on 4BC Brisbane from next Monday.

Jones will be presenting a special one hour program between 8:00 and 9:00am for two weeks leading up to the Queensland election on January 31.

4BC to broadcast live from G20 summit

News Talk 4BC today announced coverage plans for the G20 Leaders' Summit – including live broadcasts over five days from Wednesday, November 12, and boosting its reporting team.

4BC Mornings Host Patrick Condren will lead the G20 coverage on 4BC throughout the period.

The G20 Leaders' Summit in Brisbane is expected to attract up to 4,000 delegates and approximately 3,000 domestic and international media representatives.

News Talk 4BC appoints new content director

Fairfax Radio Network has appointed Steve Kyte as Content Director for the Network’s News Talk 4BC in Brisbane. 

Kyte has spent 25 years in the media industry, working in radio, television and online content production and is the current Director of Bite Media, a UK-based content production company.

He joins 4BC from London, where he helped transform some of the world’s leading radio brands including LBC 97.3 and the BBC’s news and sports network Radio 5 Live.

Mark Braybrook back on air at 4BC

One of the few sports callers in the country to have called a Rugby League Grand Final, Rugby Union International, AFL Grand Final and Soccer International, Mark Braybrook will present a lifestyle weekend show from noon to 6 pm Saturdays and Sundays on Brisbane Talk station 4BC.

“We’re very excited to launch Mark’s new lifestyle weekends show, as this is the first time we’ve gone local on weekends for a few years. Our new show adds strength to our commitment to local programming,” 4BC General Manager Anthony Frangi said.
