Exclusive: Peter Ford on his dislike of Mike Carlton and why Chrissie Swan isn't a fan

For 25 years Peter Ford has been a contributor to some of Australia's biggest radio shows.

His current portfolio includes the country's top talk stations such as 3AW2GB6PR & 5AA.

These stations sit alongside a long list of smaller capital cities and regional stations. It also includes the Kyle and Jackie O Show as well as radio stations in New Zealand.  

His career began as an office boy at 3UZ in Melbourne 35 years ago.

Social media was abuzz the day after the ACRA finalists for 2016 were announced with Eddie Olek and his son Josh Olek both getting a nod.
 
It seemed everyone was debating if they were the first father/son combo to be nominated in the same year.
 
Not so according to Eddie.
 

Former Geelong radio announcer killed in US

Former 3GL and 3UZ announcer Monique Denahy has died in the US.

Initial reports suggest that she was killed by her husband in a murder suicide after telling him she was leaving him and treturning to Australia with their children.

Bay FM Geelong reports:

It's believed Monique Denahy, 49, was killed by her 55-year-old partner, Daniel Milner, before he took his own life at the couple's rented home in a gated Florida community.

4TAB General Manager Steve Cairns has passed away after suffering a suspected heart attack in his sleep age 53.
 
Steve moved back to Brisbane this year after 19 years as Group Program Director of RSN-Racing & Sport (3UZ and Sport 927).
 
With more than three decades in radio, Steve was on-air, in Programming and Senior Management within Australia's leading sports and racing radio stations/networks.

A source at 4TAB says his death "is yet to sink in" with staff in shock.

The greater 3UZ turns 90 this weekend

One of Australian radio’s most famous callsigns, The Greater 3UZ, returns to the airwaves this weekend to mark the 90th birthday of the Melbourne station.
 
Victoria’s racing and sport station, RSN, the holder of the original 3UZ licence, will rebrand itself as 3UZ for a day, bringing back the legendary callsign, jingles and IDs.

That’s when Victoria’s racing and sport station, RSN, the holder of the original 3UZ licence, will rebrand itself as 3UZ for a day, bringing back the legendary callsign, jingles and IDs.

Former 3UZ producer Ric Plant passed away in Queensland after a brief illness.

Ric was copy chief and producer at The Greater 3UZ

He was part of the very successful team at "The Greater" 3UZ when it was clearly number one in Melbourne back in the sixties.
