Red Symons will fill in for Neil Mitchell

For one week only, 3AW listeners will be treated to something a little different when Neil Mitchell takes a short break between Christmas and New Year.

Usual fill-ins Tony Jones and Heidi Murphy will also get a break as Red Symons sits in the chair for what Neil describes as “…a very different style of fill in” for his program.

Mark Noakes position with Macquarie Media has been made redundant.

 Nine’s Managing Director – Radio, Tom Malone, made the announcement to staff telling them that the realignment of the Macquarie sales team to fit into the Nine sales structure necessitated the change.

Macquarie Media has shown the door to their Melbourne based Operations Manager, Stephen Beers.
According to TV Blackbox, Beers is departing the station after his role was made redundant this morning.
He had been in charge of 3AW and Macquarie Sports Radio in Melbourne since 2015.

Singo sells out of Macquarie Radio

John Singleton has confirmed to the Australian Stock Exchange that he will sell his shares in Macquarie Media Limited to Nine Entertainment.

Singleton holds 55.3 million shares, which will now give Nine voting power over 87% of the company.

Alan Jones has also confirmed that he will sell his 1% stake in the company to Nine.

The other major shareholder, Mark Carnegie, has not yet confirmed whether he will accept Nine's offer.

Denis Walter throws out his back chopping wood

3AW’s Denis Walter just wanted to enjoy a warming fire and ended up housebound after throwing out his back while chopping wood.
Denis told Grubby & Dee Dee, who stepped in to host his show, “The actual log splitting was fine. When I reached for what I’d split — bang! It completely seized up.”

On its website, 3AW has posted the following statement:

3AW is disgusted by comments made by one of its football commentary contributors, Scott Cummings, and published within a personal podcast.

Although the comments were never aired on 3AW, we believe there is no platform appropriate for such remarks.

Sexual assault is never a laughing matter. Jokes about sexual assault are never OK.
