Macquarie Media launches its first national program

Macquarie Media has launched its first national program, Macquarie Weekly, hosted by Justin Smith.
 
With a focus on news and current affairs, the program is live each Sunday on 2GB, 3AW, 4BC and 6PR and will look at the news of the week through the eyes and ears of the presenters, journalists and listeners of Macquarie Radio.
 

Red Symons' moving tribute to his son

Red Symons joined Neil Mitchell on 3AW this morning in his regular slow, paying a moving tribute to his son, Samuel, who passed away from cancer 2 weeks ago.

In the studio for the first time since his son's passing, Red said "He was remarkable in his own way,”

Samuel had been fighting cancer from the age of 4.

 

Richard Stubbs gets back into breakfast at Triple M

Richard Stubbs has revealed he will be spending some time at Triple M.

 

Stubbsy will fill in for the Hot Breakfast with Mark Howard and Rosemary Walton for ‘Triple M’s Spring Break’.

He tweeted that while he is excited about the prospect, he's not so sure about the early morning start.

Richard's radio career began at 3XY’s XY-Zoo, moved to Triple M before taking a break in 1997.

Nine News the biggest radio user - Aircheck Survey

According to an Aircheck Survey, during the last month on radio, Nine News was the most advertised TV Brand with 843 instances across 19 stations and while Seven News aired spots across 22 stations it only totalled 541 ads, sending the brand to fourth place.

Channel Seven’s new dating programme, ‘Take Me Out’ was the second most advertised brand with 715 spots across 32 stations while 'The Bachelor Australia', set to air its finale tonight, in sixth place, airing 362 spots across 12 stations.

Caroline Wilson to deliver Andrew Olle lecture

Walkley Award winning journalist, Caroline Wilson, will deliver the 2018 Andrew Olle Media Lecture in November.
 
Wilson, the chief football writer for The Age for 19 years, and the first woman to cover AFL on a full time basis, says she a little daunted, but honoured to be delivering the lecture. “Andrew was an inspirational pillar of Australian journalism and broadcasting and I so look forward to trying to do justice to his legacy at such an important event, and during what is clearly a pivotal period in media history.”

Macquarie Media:Full Year Results up by 24%

Macquarie Media has released its annual results with growth in Net Profit After Tax of $21.5 million up $4.2 million, or 24% on last year.

As reported last week on radioinfo, Fairfax Media, currently in merger talks with the Nine Network, is a major shareholder with 54% of shares, but Macquarie Media controls the daily operations of the company.

Eddie McGuire poaches SEN Executive Producer

Melbourne’s Herald Sun is reporting that Jay Mueller is about to resume his association with Eddie McGuire.

McGuire and Mueller worked together at Triple M on The Hot Breakfast for 8 years.

Currently Mueller is the Executive Producer for 1116 SEN’s Gerald Whateley.
