2SSR marks 30 years onair this week

2SSR Sutherland Shire Radio celebrates 30 years onair this week having begun as an idea back on 26th September 1984.

After a number of test transmissions over the following years, in 1991 the station gained its permanent broadcast licence, and the Sutherland Council provided a temporary residence in a weatherboard cottage located at 27 Gray Street Sutherland.

The station began transmitting on Saturday 26th September 1992 with Keith Clark the first presenter to go to air.
