2MC FM raises more than $50,000 for kids hospitals

A record amount of more than $50,000 was raised during 2MC FM’s 10th Annual Give Me 5 for Kids Hospital Fundraiser, held in June.

This takes the total raised since 2005 to almost $350 000.

With key fundraising events including a Bowls Day in Macksville, A Golf Day in the Camden Haven, Five On-Air Auctions during Strawny’s Brekky Show and an unprecedented amount of support from local schools, businesses, individuals and community groups, the Appeal was able to achieve its initial target of $35 000 which covers the Wish List of medical equipment required specifically to treat our sick and injured kids, newborns and their mothers.

Money raised will be split between 4 local Hospitals on the Mid North Coast in Port Macquarie, Wauchope, Macksville and Kempsey, for purchase of equipment such as an MP50 Monitor for the Special Care Nursery, Height Adjustable Baby Baths and an Oxygen Saturation Probe.

2MCFM’s involvement in the Give Me 5 for Kids fundraiser is part of parent company Southern Cross Austereo’s national campaign, which launched in the mid 90s as a simple coin drive.  Since then, the appeal has raised more than $12 million nationally, benefiting over 40 Hospitals in Regional areas by utilising local Radio and TV stations.

2MCFM General Manager Mike Crowhurst says: “Give Me Five for Kids has continued to grow each year with increased community support and the beneficiaries of the campaign will be the Paediatric sections of our local hospitals in Port Macquarie, Macksville, Kempsey and Wauchope. 2MCFM would also like to personally thank our banking partner the Holiday Coast Credit Union for their incredible support over the past decade.”
