Don Dawkins paddles into the sunset after 40 years in radio

Yesterday radioinfo announced the retirement of Capital Radio Network Group Content Director Don Dawkins.  

Don's career started in Bega in 1974 and finishes 40 years later in Canberra, and we thought we should catch up with him before he jumps in his kayak and heads off into the sunset.

A chapter in Canberra radio's history closes: Vale Jim PIlgrim

Jim Pilgrim passed away this morning at 7.30am.

A unique chapter in Canberra’s radio history, for over 40 years. Jim was a radio host at 2CA through the early '70's and was the first Drive announcer on 2CC from it's launch in October 1975.

He was a regular news and sport presenter on Canberra television, and his distinctive booming voice made him one of Australia's iconic voice over talents. His contribution to the radio industry, will live on.

You may remember him as Franko Vincenzo Movizio ‘the inflatable sports reporter’ on the Doug Mulray show or ‘the reporter in the water with Wendy Harmer’s Morning Crew, or the madcap rev-head on Network Ten’s RPM program.

The real Frank Vincent has returned home to the nation’s capital to host 2CA’s Classic Breakfast show replacing fill in guy, Rob Duckworth.

ABC666 tops Canberra survey 3

ABC Radio's local Canberra station 666 has topped the national capital's ratings this survey.

ABC666 rose 1.0 share points to score 17.4% overall.

FM104.7 was second on 17.0% after a dip of 0.3 share points.

Third placed Mix 106.3 suffered a 1.7 share point fall to 15.1%, followed by ABC Classic FM, which had the largest rise of the survey, gaining 1.7 share points to 9.9%.

Fifth place was shared by two ABC stations, youth network triple j, which had the biggest fall of the survey, losing 1.9 share points to score 8.1%, and Radio National, up 0.5 to 8.1%.
